As we crept towards Autumn, my big dream came true, in which I already invested three seasons. Together with Sean Villanueva I climbed “La Vida es Silbar” (900m, 7c+) red point in one day.
Then, thanks to my friend Lucien Caviezel I was gifted my fiftieth Eiger route, called “Löcherspiel”, after which we flew from the Eiger summit with our paragliders.
Because Nina Caprez, Sean Villanueva and I understood each other so well and had so much fun together, we used our dream team energy and completed an old project of mine and Yuri Kato’s in the middle of the Geneva pillar. We christened the first ascent "Merci la vie" as a reminder of how good life has been to us, and in memory of all the friends who’ve left us this year (as well as previous years); Bernd Rathmayr, David Lama, Hansjörg Auers, Jess Roskelley, Giovanni Quirici, Tom Ballard and Daniele Nardi! Sadly the list stretches on.
Our first ascent was documented by Severin Karrer. A red point attempt is certainly a goal for the new year.
In October Mathieu Maynadier, Sean Villanueva and I went on an expedition to Mount Meru in the Garhwal Himalya. In the end, three weeks of snowy, unstable weather made it impossible for us to reach the summit. With a great deal of effort we managed to reach 400 meters below the summit. All three of us are super motivated to go back as soon as possible to try again.
Following the motto, "never give up", I would like to wish everyone a healthy, active and safe start to the New Year. A special thanks goes out to all my friends and family, sponsors and partners who believe in and trust me, as well as to all of you who follow and share in my stories. @ Grindelwald, Switzerland
